It took about 10 hours from Marrakech (including two pit stops!) to reach Sahara. We were approaching Sahara from Zagora. From there, we ride camel for about 1.5 hours. We were just at "the gate" of the Sahara Desert. Over night in a Berber tent was amazing. The Sahara desert is one of nature’s wonders and has always mystified people with its vast stretches of sand. It covers around 9,000,000 square kilometers and the overall area is as large as the continental United States.
