We were approaching Sahara from Zagora. From there, we ride camel for about 1.5 hours. We were just at "the gate" of the Sahara Desert. Over night in a Berber tent was amazing. The Sahara desert is one of nature’s wonders and has always mystified people with its vast stretches of sand. It covers around 9,000,000 square kilometers and the overall area is as large as the continental United States. It also has the reputation of being the world’s largest hot desert! 38°C is just a normal..
I just have time to post our travel story trip to Italy. I have planned and designed this holiday months before my wife came from Indonesia. We just got lucky because Ryan Air launched a promo only 7 € to Venice. In total, I paid about 60 € go and back for all three of us.

So here the story goes…

On Thursday 17.02.2011, Ryan Air brought us to Venice in time. Approximately one hour 30 minutes we landed in Treviso, a connecting airport to Venice. From here we took a bus heading to Venice with ticket costs 5 €/ person. About an hour finally arrived in Venice.

SO here we were, on the Venice city. A city which was built on 117 small islands, about 150 canals flow through the city centre, and about 400 bridges spanning over the channel. Here you MUST use your foot, because all the city's main sights are within walking distance of each other. Or you can use Pavaretto or water bus.

We stayed at Hotel Airone which is not far from the bus and train station. We discovered Venice only two days. Yes, it was really a short time for this a romantic city. Therefore, we were really used every time we could to explore it.
Rialto the Grand Canal was our first destination. There are four bridges spanning the Grand Canal and Rialto is the oldest bridge, which separate two districts, San Marco and San Polo.
The Rialto was initially built in 1181 and completed with a stone structure in 1591. It is design by Antonio de Ponte, thus this bridge also known as Ponte di Rialto.
Lesson learned:
Transportation in Paris has already set for tourist and its connected each other. But be aware of the rubber. And also if you are traveling with family, DO NOT bring a big stroller, because most of the tram/train station is un-family-friendly. You have to carry your luggage from stairs to stairs. Be ready for that!

Transportation Ticket:

Buy one day Mobilis ticket to enjoy this city (Example: if you want to combine inner city and Versailles you have to use Mobilis Ticket Zone 1-4 with the price ~9.60 euro person, but if you only plan to visit inner city attraction, just buy Zone 1-2 with the price 5.80 euro per person.
Since this is the first time for me, I asked and searched what is the ethic when watching a concert of classical music, if its allowed to bring food, what about camera, and there are still many others "stupid" questions.

Classical music concert was completed by the Europa Chor Akademie. How wonderful, I could listen to the harmonization of the violin, flute, and various other orchestra musical instruments, as well as soprano, alto tenor bass voice and the compactness of the choir, directly. Ticket prices range from 7 EURO (students like me) to 40 euros.

Before entering into the hall, bags and jackets is deposited by paying as much as 1:50 euros. I asked the guard, if I can bring a camera inside, hiks was not allowed. Well compelled no documentation, I muttered in my heart. After that we headed to the entrance hall and show tickets, and upon entering the hall was already very full. We are in the very back row. But, frankly most comfortable position like this, because it could look wider, and need not worry if there is a sound system if the voice did not sound as Die Glocke is one of music's most famous buildings across Europe. And suddenly ...

Klappe! Suddenly everyone in the back row directly leads to a rather loud voice and "rude". Apparently an old man impatient to hear people whispering around him, because the concert was going on start ... Well apparently there are also people like this in German… human beings ..!

Sharp at 20:00, the concert had begun. Music by music shown up until 21:10. During the concert, all eyes were on the stage, with no sound and movement. We were so quiet and serious listen the music. Only at the turn track, the new seating position is replaced. The atmosphere is very quiet; just a little movement would have sounded.

After the concert lasted an hour there was a break for 20 minutes. Well this time I used to take some food in my bag which had been deposited. I also took the camera. I am just desperate, who knows I have the opportunity to take photos.

The bell sounded two times means the entire audience was required to enter into the hall again. Music and music is played back. I just realized, it appears that each finished one song, the applause was not always there. Sometimes, the sign of the gap between music "quite long", or when the Conductor turned toward the audience. In between performances, finally I can "steal" a few photos, and of course I am very satisfied!
Exactly ten minutes before eleven o'clock, the concert ended. We also rushed to take our goods which deposited. Then I, Adrian, and Ucup, went back to the Hall just for taking pictures above the balcony (which may be provided for a ticket 40 euros). And yes, the view from here is incredible! Maybe next time with my wife, sounds good :)<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 12pt;">
Including me and my family. We had a chance to explore this museum on October 2009. This building is the largest national museums in France, and is also the most visited museums in the world. We had to buy a ticket for 9 Euro to explore the contents of the museum and its valid for 3 hours. The museum is divided into three wings: Denon, Sully and Richelieu. Therefore, I am wondering that three hours of actual time given was not possible to explore the entire contents of this museum.
The museum is located in the former Palace of the Louvre was built in the late 12th century by King Philip II. The museum officially opened on August 10, 1793 with a display of new paintings as many as 537. It is said that this museum was once called the Musee Napoleon, when in the leadership of Napoleon. Currently, nearly 35,000 materials exhibited. It's incredible!

Of the many objects on display, there is one of the most widely noticed by visitors and have to wait long to be the most forward position. Yes, the famous painting Mona Lisa. The painting is in the Denon Wing 1st Floor Room 6. So make sure if we go to the Louvre to come here first, and then go to another place.
Mona Lisa is the wife of Francesco del Giocondo, so he was also known as La Gioconda or La Joconde. Oil painting from a master Leonardo da Vinci was created in the 16th century. And no doubt, this painting is probably the most famous of all time. But apparently, the Mona Lisa was not known until the mid-19th century until the artist finally emerged from symbolic movement began to appreciate it, and linking their ideas about feminine mystique. And this painting is the more famous when it was stolen on August 21, 1911. Mona Lisa has survived for more than 500 years, and an international commission was held in 1952 noted that the painting extraordinary oversight for the sake of preservation. Therefore, the Mona Lisa at the museum is already in the frame well and is very high maintenance.
So, do not miss seeing "a miracle smiles" from this world when visiting Paris.Traveling-freakhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05199537335158863640noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6327108865766742670.post-6153735558727236272010-03-24T13:59:00.000-07:002010-03-31T09:22:02.556-07:00Tips to the Alhambra

At the end of last year 2009, my friends and I had a "close year" holiday in Spain (see my stories of Madrid, Seville, Cordoba, Alhambra-Granada, and Barcelona) . For this time, I share some tips and tricks that can be carried out before and during a visit at the Alhambra, the famous one in Spain. I hope this can be useful for you all.

Tickets cost EUR 13 applies to all, there are actually a special discount students under 30 years old, but there is a special price for student, however there I could not apply this, because 'perhaps' only for Spain student.

If you do not have time to book online at Alhambra official website, try to come as early as possible, at least one hour before the ticket locket open (the locket open at 8:00), because if not, will get stuck with a very long queue, and will likely not get a quota in that day because the quota was exhausted visitor tickets, especially on Sundays or public holidays.

Select hostel is close to the Alhambra, so it is not difficult to arrive early to the ticket booth.

With a quota to enter Nasrid Palace in the morning, so we photographed parts of Alhambra freely , without knickknacks passing people hehehe ..

In addition, we could stay longer in the Nasrid Palace. I got to be around two turns in order to satisfy curiosity and photographs that have not been photographed. Because we could not get in here again, after the exit.

There are some parts of the Alhambra complex. Starting from Nasrid Palace (this is approximately 800 meters from the entrance, and only this place is applied a time control, so the tickets can watch the shift in time allocation). After that there are parks along to the Generalife. Before you go out do not forget to go to Charles and the Alcazaba Palace.

Do not buy souvenirs at the Alhambra ticket counter or in front of the Alhambra. A few shops near the slopes offer cheaper prices and varied.

Do not forget to try the tuna boquette for only 2.50 EUR with a large portion, which is located near the Hostel Dona Lupe.

Read the history of Alhambra before visiting, so it can fit into all of the imagination.

Do not forget to bring lunch, at least snacks, chocolates, etc., along with beverages.

Last but least, Do not forget to battery charges. Bring a spare memory card and battery.

So guys, don't forget to share your memories here after you visited Alhambra..

Yup, that's the motto of the ISIC = International Student Identity Card. Finally, yesterday I was able to get it with a cost of 12 EURO, at the Asta Uni-Bremen. Requirements are very easy, just need a 3x4 passport photo and show a valid student card and imatrikulasi numbers, and also passport. ISIC is especially for full-time students. ISIC published per academic year, with a validity period of 16 months from September until December the following year. Now I have a valid ISIC until December 2010.

This card is valid internationally in 120 countries, and so far has more 4.5 million card holders. Procurement cards are supported by organizations such as UNESCO, the Council of Europe and the Nation-Cultural Community Andean nations. The card is also recognized by universities, academic institutions, student organizations, national governments and ministries of education around the world.

Well, why do I suddenly care of this card? Because by having ISIC then I'll get a plane ticket discount at skyways. Understandably, I plan on going home this year, so trying to find tickets as cheaply as possible. Thanks to Yonathan who gave the information.Traveling-freakhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05199537335158863640noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6327108865766742670.post-37380414809482581682010-02-06T14:31:00.000-08:002010-04-01T00:20:37.932-07:00Bremer Karneval 2010

Again, this year (06.02.2010) I experienced Bremer Carnival for the second times. Struggle with the cold weather around zero, I took some photograph. Different with Last year's motto “Rot” or all about red, the motto of this year “Land Unter” is derived from associations around the precious element of water. It appears to us in colorful, mysterious underwater worlds, in fabulous water forms in the fabled city of Atlantis, in riveting stories of sunken treasure ships, or the giants of the sea.
SO, let’s enjoy the underwater Bremer Karneval…Here is some of my shots...Traveling-freakhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05199537335158863640noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6327108865766742670.post-44416913164317343352010-01-17T13:24:00.000-08:002010-04-01T09:06:42.233-07:00The Gaudi Barcelona

-Park Güell-

Spain 5 <span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">28.-29.12.2009 - To close the trip, Barcelona became our target. We are very pleased to explore the city that is synonymous with Gaudi. There are many popular places in Barcelona. Hostel where we had to stay right in the street Rambla de Catalunya. The hostel is right in the middle of the city and located near the Plaza de Catalunya. Even more astonishing was about the hostel rates, we payed for only 8 euros per night. After checking in, we immediately walk to the Plaça de Catalunya.
Alhambra is located here, the world heritage site by the UNESCO which was crowned since 1984. We arrived in the evening by bus from Cordoba. Then we took public transport No.33 to Cathedral stop and take minibus Alhambra No.30 or 32 from Plaza Isabel La Catolica to the main entrance of Alhambra. We stayed in the hostel "Posada Dona Lupe" just in front of Alhambra Gate. Therefore we can wake up early, then take the first line to buy the ticket, otherwise we can stuck on the long queue. The ticket cost 13 EUR, and you got a map of Alhambra complex.
Entering the Alhambra area seemed to be in paradise and brought us to feel the triumph of Islam in the past. Alhambra monument complex consists of several parts, which Charles V Palace, Medina, Alcazaba, Rauda, Nasrid Palace and Generalife, which covers an area of approximately 142,000 square meters. Before entering the Nasrid Palace, we have seen the building of Charles V Palace was built in 1533 after the city of Granada was taken by the Catholic King in 1492. In the opposite, there is Alcazaba fortress and royal military training camp. But to save time, we just continue directly to Nasrid Palace, as the favorite one, and also there is a time
Its construction was started by the founder of the dynasty Alhamar in the thirteenth century, although the buildings that survived until now are generally derived from the fourteenth century. For the whole object of the Alhambra, just in Nasrid Palace was given a schedule entry, to anticipate many visitors in the palace. Once we get in, we can stay as long as we want.
Let me talk a little bit story about Alhambra, which I summarized from www.alhambra.org and Wikipedia. Alhambra is a palace and fortress complex built in the mid-13th century by the Umayyad dynasty in Al-Andalus, which was in the hill city of Granada, now in the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain. Alhambra is not only a former palace building kings of Islam, but the historical evidence of Islamic civilization.
Alhambra comes from the Arabic, which literally means "red", or complete the form is Calat Alhambra means "red castle", which reflects the color of red clay from the castle for building materials was made. Although the actual building of the Alhambra originally painted white, but now the building looks right now is red.
Last is the Generalife, a relaxed place to play and stay calm cool for the kings. This place is built with a garden and fountain. Origin of the word from the Generalife is from Arabic, namely al-Arif Yanat means garden architect. Which is a symbol that the creations in this world is from God as the architect and creator of the universe.
In the eighth century, the Great Mosque of Córdoba (the Mezquita), which is now also known as the Roman Catholic Cathedral, the architectural pride of Muslims in western countries at that time. This mosque was built above ground after the church of St. Vincent's purchased from the local Christian community before destroyed. Being the most remarkable monuments of the Umayyad dynasty, where the capital of Al-Andalusia was in Cordoba.
This building not only functioned as a religious center, but also a manifestation of social, cultural and political. After "Reconquista" (the takeover of power from Muslim to Christianity) in Spain, the mosque was turned into a church, a Gothic cathedral adding to the middle of the building. Currently the entire building the mosque was used for the Cathedral of the diocese of Córdoba in Spain.
Some important monument in Seville is the Cathedral of Seville was built in 1401-1519, which was once a mosque. Spain 1 <span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">23.-24.12.2009 - We were flying about 2.5 hours (13:05 - 15.25) with the cheapest flight "Ryan Air" from Bremen to Girona Barcelona. Once we arrived in Girona, we directly go to shuttle bus and bought return ticket cost 20 euro. From Girona to Barcelona Nord station takes about 1.5 hours. Madrid also has a good transportation system. Well, Madrid became a city opening of the "long" journey in Spain from 23 to 30 December 2009. Thank God, I've seen the Spanish capital. Frankly, one day will not be enough to explore the city of Madrid. Therefore not much I can tell. We only had about 5-7 hours at the time, because we must continue our journey to Seville. But, armed with detailed maps and tourist attraction to visit in Madrid, then we can still see numbers of the main monuments there, although we can not stay for long.

Sol is the main station, and it is hub with almost all metro. Here we can also start to walk to see many touristic building. But, we were less fortunate because the weather was not supported. The rain was very heavy, restricting our exploration. Like many other metropolitan city, Madrid is full of high buildings.

At 13:00, we take metro no.1 from Sol with direction Valdecarros, we stop at Pacifico and take metro No.6 stop at Mendez Alvaro. Here is the bus station, the bus will take us to Sevilla.

Facts:
Metro ticket in Madrid = 1 day 5.2 EUR (special for tourist)
Not because of the festivals or free concerts, but this weekly event has sucked most of people "lower middle income" or student (like me) to sneak in a cheap shopping. In Germany called Flohmarkt, or as in Indonesia might be interpreted "pasar loak", or in the United States called "garage sale". This type of market has a lot in various cities in the world, but in different terms and traditions. So, if you have time when visit some cities in Germany, just keep your eyes on this.

According to Wikipedia, mention that the term of this market is still much debated. According to the book "Word and Phrase Origins", the term comes from "Vallie Market" of Manhattan. However, some others saying that came from a flea market in rural areas of Paris which run since the late 17th century. While in Germany the term is derived from the last king Kleidergaben..

Western-style flea market, selling various used goods whose price is very cheap. Goods sold are also very varied, from children's toys, housewares, electronics, and carpentry tools. In addition, we can bargain here. This flea market is usually held in the open area, but in some places in the hall or building.

Traditional flea market is often organized by voluntary associations or specially formed working groups in each community. Some very famous flea market in Germany because of including the largest, longest and oldest, for example, flea markets of Berlin, Frankfurt (I've been here!), Bonn, Munich, Bremen (I live here :) ) and Hanover.

So, if you need something cheap while in vacation, just come to flohmarkt.Traveling-freakhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05199537335158863640noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6327108865766742670.post-24189314060501045192009-11-29T16:23:00.000-08:002010-03-31T15:45:25.749-07:00The Palace of Versailles - FranceParis 5 - We were heading Palace of Versailles, or usually called the Château de Versailles. Actually, initially I was not too interested to get here, because we have to travel out about 45 minutes from the City of Paris. But, one of my friend really recommended this place. So, we just take the chance. But, suddenly just feel terrible when we arrived we have to joint into the very long queue.

After making the long line, we paid the tickets costs13.50 EUR per person (my son is free). There is also a ticket to enter the park (costs about 8 EUR), but we decided to enter only the palace. They provide headsets which explain detailed information, but we did not take it. Because I have to carry my son since stroller can not get in.

Once entered, my assumption proved wrong, this palace is very very very interesting. Does not stop me chuckle amazed at the grandeur of the building, which frankly is beyond my reasoning. The Château de Versailles was indeed included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site aka the world's cultural heritage. Again, how lucky us!

Back to the history, long ago, in 1682, Versailles became the center of political power by King Louis IV after moving from the city of Paris. This building began constructed in 1661 to meet the desire of King Louis IV, and was formally established on May 6, 1682. And continued until Louis XIV. I was wondering, how they can built this things at that time.

It was nice to feel the luxury and splendor of the kings of France. Starting from the reading room, the king and queen beds, fireplaces, halls for meetings. All sizes are Big and Beautiful. And the most striking again, a meeting/dancing hall was directly confronted with the views of the park, which is already in design with beautiful ... Again wondering, how much does it costs to build this palace.

It turned out that the palace of Versailles has been given permission in order to producing film, one of the most recent was Marie Antoinette. The film was released in 2006 starring Kirsten Dunst. Hmm .. so I really want to watch this movie again ...

After touring, of course, very tired but I am certainly very happy.Traveling-freakhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05199537335158863640noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6327108865766742670.post-82197955318472238672009-11-29T15:13:00.000-08:002010-04-02T11:23:56.700-07:00Musée du Louvre - Paris

Paris 4 - We visited Musée du Louvre. We bought daily ticket called Mobilis Ticket Zone 1-4 costs 9.60 EURO per person, in the locket. Then we used Metro M4 direction Porte de Clignancourt, stop at the Chatelet Station then take M1 direction La Defense and stop at Palais Royal Musee du Louvre station. The second place that became our target in Paris is the . This building is the largest national museums in France, and is also the most visited museums in the world. Hmmm .. How lucky!

To explore the contents of this "pyramid museum", we had to buy a ticket for 9 EUR, and is valid for 3 hours. The museum is divided into three wings, Denon, Sully and Richelieu. So really not enough time with just three hours hehehe ..But, we have no worries, we already have a note what to visit.

The most impressive is the museum which located in the former Palace of the Louvre was built in the late 12th century by King Philip II. The museum officially opened on August 10, 1793 with a display around 537 paintings. Today, nearly 35.000 display materials. Incredible!

Of the many objects on display, there is one of the most attractive to visitors and have to wait long to be the most forward position. Yes, the famous painting "Mona Lisa". The painting is in the Denon Wing 1st Floor Room 6.
Although many people crammed, fortunately we were wrong entry point and not too taken by officers because we brought the stroller. So, please not jealous to see my picture below...

Transport amannnn!!! Tinggal transport dalam kota, tapi itu on the spot aja (hmm nanti dibahas juga deh secara terpisah..)

Akomodasi

Saya langsung ok-in. Sambil nunggu kereta datang, saya bilang mau bayar sekarang, katanya nanti aja di dalam kereta. Ok, setelah di dalam kereta karna gak punya receh 6 EUR, saya kasihlah pecahan 10 EUR, tapi dia gak langsung kasi kembalian 4 EUR, saya pikir mungkin nanti bakal dikasi. karna saya dan istri ribet dengan barang bawaan pas nyampe stasiun Bremen, maka di dalam hati saya pikir, nanti aja pas di luar mintanya, saya percaya banget sama orang Jerman. Tapiii, ternyata oh ternyata, si ibu dan anaknya ini, langsung kabur, meski saya mencoba mengejar, setelah meletakkan barang2.. Jadinya, 4 EUR ku lenyap dah.

Biaya administrasi 30 EUR

Nanti kita dikasi bukti pengembalian jaminan (Ausreisenachweis).

Thanks to Herr Hauschildt atas keramah tamahannya.

Mudah-mudahan bermanfaat yah..
